Reflection on Digital Arts Term 1 : Website & Project

This term, I started working on the project after the third week which gave me a lot of time to think what to do for my final project and what can I do to improve in it. But I learned a lot of new things for the first time such as creating a website and then customising it by keeping in mind what is your course and color palette, professionalism, creativity and innovation. I would say that I tried my best on how to improve my website and also took advise from other peers too.

Every feature about the website was like a new thing and whenever I made changes in my website, I got to learn something new even from my mistakes which I did like not considering the color palette of the website at all during the first few weeks. Later on, I realised something was wrong with my website, it was not looking pleasant to me as a viewer of the website so I tried to consider a set of color palette and changed every section background with different blue abstract background images.

Now comes, using the templates from the elements of the website which is like a roller coaster ride throughout the whole options you want to use in your website but you may not know nothing about them. I felt like this at first but the teacher also helped us to get introduced to them with many of them during the lectures which made our work easier but I also tried a lot of new options to see if they would look good on my website. Some of the options were really god so I used them on my website.

The project planning started really long ago for this term as I mentioned earlier. But I would say that I knew what to do but sometimes guidance is also needed as it is possible for me to not know everything such as using the software which includes Pixlr, Photoshop and SketchUp. I learned to use them after having the practice sessions in the lectures. After that, I practiced using those software couple of times but still it was not enough. But the amount of things I have learned till now helped me a lot while doing my project. While doing the project, I also researched about the sustainability of materials, location, demographics and making the floor plan, considering the dimensions of floors and without all of these, it was not possible to finish the project. I got the chance to learn a huge amount of new things during these project.

Looking back at the whole term, I realised that I got the chance to learn so many things such as doing artist research, referencing work, comparing work, writing technical details of every work, and reflecting on my own work. I've learned how to build my own website and create a blog. Overall, the lesson on digital arts has been very educational and helpful. The large volume of work we were required to complete this term, however, has made me feel stressed, and I personally believe that there wasn't enough time.
