Icebreaker : The BIG Head

We were asked to recreate a famous person's head image using different materials in 3D. Four classmates were teamed up together in each group and everyone will focus on their piece as the image was divided into four equal parts. Our group chose Jack Nicholson and then we process to sketch out his image in the given boards to start working on it. My primary choice of material were ropes and matchstick. I enjoyed the whole task.

The following images below are the materials I have used while making the BIG Head and it was quite easy for me as I had already worked with this before.

I chose the bottom right side of the face for the task as I wanted to work with the blank background and try more textures and do it in 3D.

Firstly, one of our group member sketched out the whole head in four different boards and then I cut out the highlight part and then glued foil paper on the bottom part.

Moreover, I started to glue the rope for the black shirt and then started the face using the white ropes to highlight lighter tones of the face.

Secondly, I used matchsticks for the darker parts of the face and glued them based on the texture and lighting.

Lastly, for the white background, I wanted to do something with ropes but later I decided to do it based on the movie named "Mars Attacks!" and the theme "Spider from Mars". I used white rope and glued it to make Mars, spider web and a spider. In addition to that, I used newspaper and cut some red colored paper and glued it around the mars to give the contrast and then used purple colored paper in the whole background but around the web, I glued black to give the hint of  the black background.

This is the final outcome of my assigned work for the group task.

The image below is the final outcome of our group named 'STORM DESTROYER'.

JACK NICHOLSON : BIG Head

I enjoyed the task a lot as everyone in the group were doing their work individually. It was the best group task I has experienced in the whole year.
