Designing a site plan

In this lesson, based on my project idea and location, I had to think of how to design my site plan.

Firstly, I started by sketching out the idea on a paper before doing it a final one. Then after finishing sketching some initial ideas, I took four A3 size papers and tape them together side by side to start drawing the site. I used felt tips to do that especially to highlight the forest area, beach and sea. I finished the drawing but I was not satisfied with that still I knew what to do next.

Lastly, I took another single paper and carefully drew the site plan again using fine liners.

In the above picture, the green color colored part is where the forest trees are, the brown colored part represents the beach area and the sky blue color area is the sea whereas the uncolored parts is the project area design for the site plan.

During these task, I got to improve my ideas and also finalize my ideas about the site plan. I enjoyed the whole task.

  1. Okay, fairly simplistic drawings, but the explanation of them is not great - you will need to identify what each section of the site is for. You have explained this to me, but not recorded it on your blog. Break these drawings down (saying the green is forest, the brown is sand and blue is sea is not at all complex) with a better explanation of what you are designing - where is the embarking and disembarking area? Show how people will arrive. Where is the accommodation? We have talked ab out the 'hub' - demonstrate where this is and what the purpose of it will be.

Still need some concept sketches as well....
