Further research on the materials and weather condition of Maldives

The Fari Islands are home to the luxury archipelago haven Patina Maldives, which represents environmental ideals and an unbreakable "commitment to perpetuity" ( Palamountain, 2021). Beyond just talking about it, Patina Maldives actively exhibits its commitment to eco-friendly travel, which is essential given how exposed the Maldives are to sea level rise brought on by climate change. During construction, it prioritized eco-conscious decisions by using locally sourced, biodegradable, and reusable materials (using FSC-certified timber from open supply chains).

In order to reduce waste, it provides 1,600 employees with refillable water bottles. All drinking water on the island is produced sustainably at the Nordaq water bottling facility. By 2030, a Swimsol solar facility will meet 50% of the electricity demand. The Roots restaurant serves upscale, locally sourced plant-based food. The "Fab Lab" gets kids involved in 3D printing ocean plastic recycling while the culinary studio develops their interest in vegetable farming. Patina Maldives embraces marine conservation and exploration as essential hobbies in order to blend in with its marine-rich surroundings.

Marco den Ouden, general manager of the Patina Maldives, Fari Islands, says: “Patina Maldives, Fari Islands, is well aware of the global challenges that are affecting the worldwide carbon footprint. Our archipelago at Fari Islands provides us with a scalable opportunity to positively impact our construction, supply chain, operational standards, marine biosphere, and most importantly, community, directly ( Palamountain, 2021).

I have also looked into the weather condition of Maldives as my researches are mainly based on resorts situation in Maldives.

The best months to travel are between December and April because of the lowest rainfall totals and the longest daylight hours. Storms are more likely to occur in the summer, however there is still a chance for long stretches of bright weather. The warm, tropical environment of the Maldives, which provides excellent winter sun, is one of the main draws for travelers. The outstanding beaches, resorts, and abundant underwater wildlife are the main attractions.

The first two resorts opened in the early 1970s, kicking off the development of tourism on the islands after they gained independence from Britain in 1965. The tourist sector grew throughout the ensuing decades; today, there are over 100 resorts that are in operation, and more than 1 million people visit each year. Due to the country's geology, the majority of resorts enjoy exclusive usage of an entire island, usually with a beach encircling it and its own reef acting as a protected swimming pool and natural aquarium.

The climate in the Maldives, which are renowned for their natural beauty, is perfect for tourists who want to engage in water sports like water skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and wind surfing. Due to the huge underwater scenery and the clear water, diving there is among the top recreational activities in the entire world.

The way architects have kept in mind about both the weather conditions and materials that are suitable is a major reason behind researching about Patina Maldives as the project I want has a similar weather and I am also looking on materials suitable for the site. I will research more on every factor and keep updating on the progress.
